Green-Divízió Ltd. is a 100% Hungarian-owned, medium-size company, which started to operate in 2001. Among its owners is Ecoflex Ltd, one of the biggest players in Hungary in the business of processing and selling bird feathers, and the family Kutni, who are traditional goose growers.
Our business is one of the most prominent companies in the field of fat waterfawl farming in Hungary. We manufacture 500.000 fat geese and just about the same amount of fat duck while embracing the whole vertical production process, including farming, breeding, incubation, production, fattening, first and further processing, as well as the sales of the final products.
We operate in two regions in Hungary. In Békés county, we essentially do the breeding and incubation, while in Bács-Kiskun we do the production and the fattening as well as the processing in three slaughter houses.
Our subsidiary, Anser-Branch Ltd, is the breeder of Babati Grey Hybrid for foie gras, and they also deal with the Hungarian Goose Breed, kept for its meat. Our second subsidiary is Gehl-Rak Ltd, who plays a leading role in the closed goose breeding and in the development of a new forced-feeding technology.
Our main concerns are most importantly the well-being of the animals, high food safety standards and excellent logistics.
- In order to respect the rules regarding the well-being of the animals, we have introduced an SQS quality system which regulates the production and fattening by using a special, more humane and less
time-consuming technology. This enables us to comply with market demands while force-feeding the animals in a gentle way. The production is carried out during nighttime and using a blue light in order to calm the animals so that they are stress-free when entering the production line.
- We have introduced important changes regarding the food safety of waterfawl production. This consists of warm and semi-warm evisceration of ducks and geese, which ensures a higher quality of processed foods. We are the first to practice in Central-Europe in the poultry industry the HPP technology, which involves sterilization on a high pressure. This means that a heat treatment is not necessary for the preservation of the products, keeping the nutrients of the foods.
- Our products are exported into 20 countries under two brand names: Piroska Prémium and Passion du Gourmet. We are working on familiarizing the Hungarian consumers with our products, making them available in all regions in Hungary.
We have been the first to produce organic Peking duck and goose since 2013, and have been successful with these products in Europe. In the same way of thinking, we would like to apply for grants in order to use alternative energy sources.
We find continous development particularly important to make production more efficient. In cooperation with our companies and universities, we apply for the state- and european-funded grants available for research and development as well as innovation. Part of our philosophy is that technology does not only benefit us but also the whole society, therefore it will become a good return on investment in a long term.
Our plans for the coming years include setting up a plant in Békés county with a capacity of 10.000 tons live animal, since this is the region where we have currently no production unit. This would create over 200 employments. The Orosháza production plant is the oldest unit, founded in 1896 by an italian family, the Bernardinelli, and state-owned after the second world war. It was one of the most prominent plants at national level and continued to be so after the fall of communism. One of the owners had started his career at the company during the socialist era and set himself the objective to restart the plant, as an homage to William Feather: “Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.” At the same time, re-activating the
long-forgotten production of fat waterfawl has become a priority as well, and is planned to be carried out by setting up a farm within 25 kms from Orosháza.
